Summer Explorers in kréyol
" In Africa, when an old man dies, a library burns down" Amadou Hampâté Bâ.
Many African descendants live outside of their countries of origin. After two or three generations, traditions and language may disappear, causing disconnections with the Creole cultures.
Hence, En Route is proud to offer a Summer Explorers formula all in Creole for children of the diaspora.
During our summer camp, you will reconnect with your roots and culture in a 100% Creole immersion setting.
We will start by visiting slavery Memorials. In addition to impactful visits, we offer academic classes that are focused on the history of the Caribbean region and the grammatical structure of Creole.
Consequently, you will also visit the different sites of Creole diaspora living in Guadeloupe and will participate in subsequent workshops such as cooking classes where you will learn about traditional dishes and ancestral techniques or meeting elderly people who will share stories an tan lontan.
With our Explorers Program in Creole, not only will you receive tools that will equip you to use Creole in your everyday life upon your return, but you will also embrace your culture, feel proud of who you are, and be able to transmit your knowledge to the next generation.
